High School to Flight School started with a simple idea: What if we could help students passionate about flying while also helping our local community. This forms the core of our flight scholarship program.
Ground School / Flight Training
HSFS covers costs associated with obtaining a private pilot license. There are two scholarships available, ground school and flight school. Out of the students who complete ground school and pass the written exam, up to two will be selected for the full flight school scholarship. Covered costs include ground school, test fees, flight physical and 85% of flight time.
community service
HSFS student pilots “earn” their flight school time by volunteering with a local community service organization or project of their choice. Every hour of volunteer time worked is an hour of flight time earned.
Mentorship & Support
Students not only benefit from financial assistance, but through HSFS are introduced to a community of pilots they can relate to and, most importantly, learn from. Full flight school scholarship students work with a dedicated HSFS mentor throughout their training.
High School to Flight School scholarships are currently only available to students in Anchorage and the Mat-Su Valley. Our partner flight school is based in Palmer. If you have an idea to bring HSFS to your local community, please get in touch!
